RECOMMENDED FLIGHTS / ARRIVING ISRAEL

Roundtrip flights are not a part of your trip cost. You are responsible to purchase your own flights to and from Israel. You are required to email Emmaus your complete flight itinerary so proper arrival and departure information can be managed. There are some dynamics associated with your arrival in Israel that you need to consider when scheduling your flights. Please read this page and the Recommended Flights/Departing Israel page before purchasing your airline tickets.

PURCHASING YOUR AIRLINE TICKETS

You are welcome to purchase your roundtrip airline tickets to Israel at this time from any airline carrier you desire. Emmaus is recommending two international flights servicing Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) near Tel Aviv, Israel. You are not required to take one of these international flights; these are recommendations only. One international flight departs out of Toronto, Canada and is non-stop to Israel. The other international flight departs out of Newark, NJ and is non-stop to Israel. In both cases the return flights are also non-stop. You will need to make your domestic connecting flights accordingly. Below are the two international flights Emmaus is recommending. Please note: Your Israel departure flight can be scheduled for the evening of October 19 or the morning of October 20. If it is your intention to depart Israel on October 20 using Air Canada, United Airlines or another carrier, your overnight of October 19 will be covered by Emmaus.

RECOMMENDED INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

IF YOU DO NOT TAKE ONE OF THE RECOMMENDED INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

Please schedule your arrival flight to Israel to take advantage of one of two bus transfers to the hotel on October 8. See the bus transfer information below. Should you miss a bus transfer you will need to take a taxi to the hotel (about $80).

UPON ARRIVAL AT THE TEL AVIV AIRPORT

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) follow the people exiting the plane. Many are locals or seasoned travelers to Israel. Walk quickly to stay near the front of the crowd since Passport Control can be slow during peak travel seasons. After Passport Control is Baggage Claim. After Baggage Claim is the Arrival Hall Lobby. There are currency exchange banks in the Arrival Hall Lobby. It is recommended you exchange $200 for later incidental personal expenses.

BUS TRANSFERS FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL

Two bus transfers will take place. The first transfer will take place at 1:00 pm on October 8. The second transfer will take place at 6:00 pm on October 8. Please schedule your arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) a minimum of 1.5 hours prior to a bus transfer. Based on the bus transfer schedules your flight should arrive at TLV airport no later than 11:30 am for the 1:00 pm transfer and no later than 4:30 pm for the 6:00 pm transfer.

WHERE TO MEET IN THE TEL AVIV AIRPORT

When you enter the Arrival Hall Lobby go to the right where you will find some seating; beyond that is a coffee bar by the name of Kakao. Remain in the vicinity of these two areas. About 20 minutes prior to the bus departure an airport representative with a Moody-Thompson sign will begin to gather you together and escort you to the bus.

TAXI SERVICE TO THE HOTEL

When you enter the Arrival Hall Lobby directly in front of you and over the main door is a sign that says "Taxi" – exit there. Once outside walk about 75 yards to the left until you see a "Taxi” booth and the attendant. See the taxi attendant for your taxi to your hotel. The taxi attendant will assign you a taxi and give you the exact cost. All private taxis are WHITE in color. Do not hail a taxi. Pay the driver upon arrival at the hotel. Tipping is not expected; it is optional at 5-10%. Here is your hotel information. Sharon Hotel, 4 Ramat Yam St., Herzliya, Israel. Local phone number is 09-952-5777.

Testimonials

  • "Traveling in the "Footsteps of Paul" in Turkey made this tour feel like a fresh Christian blood transfusion. I realize how important it is to take time to explore Old World roots; to visit places were Jesus (in Israel) or the Apostles shared the Good News. The Paul Turkey trip was a natural follow-up to my visit to Israel. The success of this tour for me came from the mix of people who bonded well, and the curiosity and questions shared. Matching this was the superb biblical scholarship of three PHD leaders who seemed to enjoy exploring our questions."
